Hong Kong - A senior delegation, led by Board Chairman Li Qingkui, anchored China Southern Power Grid’s substantial participation and attendance at the 7th Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macau Power Industry Summit. CSG’s Vice President Yang Jinbai also attended the summit.
Here at the summit, held in late May, Chairman Li proposed that the power enterprises in Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macau, “should make joint efforts to continuously enhance the value and influence of the summit as a platform in the pursuit of wider and deeper cooperation”.
He also suggested that the power industries of the three regions, “work together to map out a blueprint of development and cooperation and build a community of shared future, so as to make a greater contribution to the green and sustainable development of society and economy”.
During his stay in Hong Kong, Chairman Li also met with The Honourable Sir Michael Kadoorie, Chairman of CLP Holdings Company Limited (CLP).
The 7th Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macau Power Industry Summit was held by CLP with the theme of “Sustainable Growth with Regional Focus”.
CLP CEO Richard Kendall Lancaster; Board Chairman of Companhia de Electricidade de Macau (CEM) Xu Kaicheng and Chairman of China General Nuclear Power Corporation (CGNPC) He Yu were all present at and addressed the summit attendees.
They all expressed their willingness to actively respond to the initiative of the Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation and take advantage of this summit as a “platform to strengthen planning and deepen cooperation for mutually beneficial and win-win results as well as common development”.
CSG delivered a themed speech, proposing to enhance the cyber security among power enterprises in Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macau”.
In the opening remarks, Chairman Li praised the achievements made by the summit since its launch and gave a brief introduction of CSG’s development strategy as well as the company’s management practices during the past year.
He also analyzed complex environments faced by power industries in Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macau in their development and called on the enterprises to respond to the initiatives proposed on the Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation, to follow the principles of “wide consultation, joint contribution and shared benefits” and to uphold the spirit of “peace and cooperation, openness and inclusiveness, mutual learning and mutual benefit”.
Chairman Li encouraged all sides to build a “road of peace, a road of prosperity, a road of opening up, a road of innovation and a road connecting different civilizations through the platform offered by the summit”. To jointly build a road of peace, power industries in Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao should give full play to their own advantages to ensure a safe and stable grid, so as to enhance social harmony and people’s wellbeing and build Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao into a livable and business-friendly city cluster of world class”.
He added that the goals should also be, “To jointly build a road of prosperity, on the one side, all power enterprises in the region need to support each other and boost cooperation in the development of the grand bay area of Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macau. On the other side, they ought to work together to expand the overseas market while keep consolidating the cooperative partnership. To jointly build a road of opening up, it requires a continuous enhancement in capital openness and regional power trade, as well as stronger security in clean energy for the region. To jointly build a road of innovation, an all-around cooperation in various aspects of developing smart grid, such as energy connection, user interaction, information sharing and smart home, is necessary with the aim to realize innovative sustainable development and promote the construction of smart cities. To jointly build a road of connecting different civilizations, a high-level communication mechanism has been established and visits of different levels have been conducted under the mechanism with fruitful results. It is encouraged to continuously improve the mechanism and promote cultural integration for the development of enterprises”.
During his concluding comments, Chairman Li offered several proposals on how to “enhance the value and influence of this summit and deepen the cooperation under the initiative of the Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation. First, industries need to seize opportunities to seek new ground for deeper cooperation to achieve win-win outcomes. Second, relevant parties should set up more communication mechanisms concerning management and technology under the summit mechanism. With the establishment of the exchange mechanism on cyber security this year, it is time to expand to other fields such as lean management and scientific and technological innovation in pursuit of common sustainable development.Third, all sides need to keep enhancing the value and influence of the Summit in an effort to boost social and economic development of Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macau”.
