Guangzhou - On August 4, China Southern Power Grid Big Data Service Co., Ltd., was established here in Guangzhou.
CSG Big Data, a new high-tech enterprise that has been created to pursue digital, intelligent and information-based development, bears all of the hallmarks of the underlined major mission of China Southern Power Grid … which is to promote the digital transformation and development of digital industries.
As a leading subsidiary focusing on big data, this new Big Data organization will further explore the basic resources and data value of the digital power grid, integrate the China Southern Power Grid with a bold new digital infrastructure and facilitate the interconnectivity among production, storage, computing and transmission network of data.
China Southern Power Grid Big Data Service Co., Ltd., will drive the integrated, cross-domain innovation in big-data operation and value-added services and act as a role model for energy ecosystem service providers and a benchmark in the industry of big-data energy service.
“As a third-tier wholly-owned subsidiary of China Southern Power Grid, CSG Big Data will run as a group organization,” said Chen Mingjie, general manager of CSG Big Data.
According to Mr. Chen, the next step in the formation of China Southern Power Grid Big Data Service Co., Ltd., will be to build a uniform brand, make a general plan for business development, unify technical standards and specifications and concurrently coordinate major foreign cooperation, investments and financing.
CSG Big Data will integrate network resources, synergize data center, 5G, BDS and power grid, prioritize the three main business sectors (big data operation and services, new digital infrastructure and operation and communication networks investment and operation) while forming a “First Class” domestic industrial cluster that carefully blends power grid and new infrastructure.
“We will establish a unified data service portal open to the domestic and markets throughout the international community,” said Yang Rongxia, director of the CSG data operation department.
Mr. Yang said, “CSG boasts the advantage of abundant energy-consumption data”, adding that in big data operation and services, “the strength will be integrated to connect the consumer internet, credit investigation services, big data, finance and other third-party crossover platforms.”
According to Mr. Yang, attention will be mainly fixed on the data value of individual, enterprise clients and upstream suppliers.
He said, “we will push forward deeper cooperation with government, finance, real estate, telecommunications and other fields, so as to provide up-to-standard services of big data operation and value-added services tailored to the clients’ demand.”
Mr. Yang added, “In making these important investment and operation of new digital infrastructure, we will provide three main services, including the investment and development of data center, BDS positioning and the sharing of 5G base stations.”
According to Guo Junfeng, director of the IDC investment and operation department, “the data center will be built in a core-area-edge structure to complete the business layout.” In the structure, the “core” refers to the data-center cluster composed of large-scale centralized data centers invested and built in the GBA and Gui’an, Guizhou Province.
Mr. Guo explained, “this year, we have already launched the project of Gui’an Data Center. Further, we will put into operation the self-use cabinets in the project of Tangxia Data Center (the main production node of CSG) and start the first civil engineering of HPSPS Data Center in Guangdong.”
Based on the BDS Operation Service Platform and the BDS base stations, relevant services will be provided for China Southern Power Grid and other enterprises. The BDS operation services will include positioning, short-message communication and time-frequency monitoring, characterized by autonomy and controllability, all-weather and all-day availability and high accuracy and reliability.
According to varied application scenarios and clients’ specifications, the BDS base stations will, supported by transformer substations and poles and powers, provide a unique package of sharing services, such as site lease, agent-construction and maintenance, and the conversion from indirect to direct power supply.
In the investment and operation of communication networks, CSG Big Data will provide services concerning dedicated lines of communication circuits and bandwidth lease, build and run a public platform of resources management and control and provide network traffic services.
