On August 22, the 2015 Top 500 Chinese Enterprises Summit co-hosted by China Enterprise Confederation and China Enterprise Directors Association was held in Nanning City, Guangxi Province. The list of the Top 500 Chinese Enterprises was announced at the summit.
Sinopec secured the No.1 spot in the newly-released list, while PetroChina, State Grid, ICBC, China Construction Bank, CSCEC, Agricultural Bank of China, CMCC and SAIC Motor were listed among the Top 20.
On an ownership basis, 293 out of the Top 500 are SOEs while 207 are private-owned enterprises. The number of private-owned companies on the list increased by 7, maintaining a momentum of growth and accounting for 41.4% of the Top 500 Enterprises.
On an industry basis, out of the Top 500, 266 are manufacturing enterprises, 151 service companies and 83 companies of other business. Compared to last year, the number of manufacturing enterprises increased by 6, while the number of service companies dropped by 6, which indicated a growth of manufacturing enterprises on the list.
The first Top 500 Chinese Enterprises list was published 14 years ago in 2002. According to statistics, 15 power generation companies and 3 power grid companies were on the Top 500 list and CSG ranked 19th.
