Bi Yaxiong Meets with Minister Aqqalu Jerimiassen

Guangzhou - Bi Yaxiong, vice president of China Southern Power Grid (CSG), recently met with his counterpart, Aqqalu Jerimiassen, Minister for Industry and Energy of Greenland and his delegation as they visited Guangzhou and CSG’s headquarters.

Both parties held fruitful discussions on the exploitation and utilization of renewable energy sources as well as UHVDC technology.

Mr. Bi expressed his warm welcome to Minister Jerimiassen and his delegation and briefed them on CSG’s business.

Mr. Bi said that CSG “is willing to continue to expand its cooperation with Ministry of Industry and Energy of Greenland as well as other energy companies in the exploitation and utilization of renewable energy sources”.

Minister Jerimiassen thanked CSG for its warm welcome and said, “We appreciate CSG's advanced power grid technology and managerial experience and hope to build a good relationship with CSG to explore the possibility of future cooperation”.
Jørn Skov Nielsen, Vice Minister of Industry and Energy of Greenland shared a presentation on Greenland, its energy supplies and 2030 renewable energy development plan.

Mike Peterson, CEO of Nukissiorfiit, made an introduction of the company. CSG staff from System Operation Department shared experiences in large-capacity long-distance power transmission as well as the utilization of renewable resources.
Greenland is the world's biggest island with an area of 2.166 million square kilometers and a population of 56,000. It is part of the Kingdom of Denmark and entitled to high degree of autonomy in its internal affairs.

Greenland is rich in natural resources and offshore petroleum and natural gas reserves with 70% of its power demands relying on hydroelectric generation.
