Li Qingkui Meets with EDF’s Jean-Bernard Lévy

Beijing - Li Qingkui, Board Chairman of China Southern Power Grid (CSG) held private meetings with Jean-Bernard Lévy, Chairman and CEO of Électricité de France (EDF) on the afternoon of June 24, 2018.

Mr. Li and Mr. Lévy held in-depth discussions on the Hainan-based Boao Le Cheng Smart Grid and Low-Carbon Intelligent Energy Comprehensive Demonstration Zone project and further “win-win” cooperation for both sides.

Bi Yaxiong, Vice President of CSG also attended the meeting.

During his remarks, Mr. Li Qingkui shared his warm welcome to Mr. Lévy and his visiting delegation from Paris and presented CSG’s recent business developments and expansion into new energy resources.

Mr. Li said that EDF, “with its exceptional reputation throughout the international community, enjoys multiple assets that CSG can learn from, especially EDF’s experience in power system reforms”.

Currently, CSG enjoys a rapid positive momentum in grid development and Guangdong Province has an enormous potential for electricity demand.

Against this backdrop, Hainan will also witness exciting new opportunities as the signing of the statement on CSG-EDF cooperation in the Boao Le Cheng Project will promote this Sino-French partnership to new highs.

Mr. Li expressed his desire to “leverage both sides’ advantages and build the Boao Le Cheng Project into an outstanding demonstration project that will make meaningful contributions to Hainan’s economic and social development”.

Mr. Lévy expressed his thanks to Mr. Li for its warm reception and briefed him on EDF’s current development and power reforms, with an emphasis on new technologies and its applications in offshore wind power and energy storage.

He also expressed his sincere appreciation for the high-quality cooperation on both sides in recent years and the achievements made in Boao Le Cheng Project.

Mr. Lévy pledged that EDF would continue to expand its cooperation with China Southern Power Grid and build the Boao Le Cheng Project into a global demonstration project.
