Bi Yaxiong Visits Laos & Vietnam

Bi Yaxiong, CSG’s Vice President, made visits to Laos and Vietnam from June 8 to 12.

During his trip to Laos, Mr. Bi visited the Nam Tha 1 Hydro-Power Company Ltd., and was given a briefing of the latest progress of the project construction. He stressed that as the project has “entered a critical period, it is imperative to strengthen safety management, fault prevention, and supervise all safety measures”.

During his visit to Vietnam, Mr. Bi visited the Vinh TanI Coal-fired Power Plant and CSG’s Vietnam Representative Office.

Concerning the Vinh Tan I Coal-fired Power Plant, Mr. Bi requested the Vinh Tan Company, and all parties concerned, enhance their partnerships and bring into full play the vision proposed by President Xi Jinping to build a “community of shared future for mankind based on consultation, contribution, shared benefits and win-win situation”.

At the same time, the project was expected to stand the test of long-term operation and maintain high quality while ensuring safety.

Mr. Bi said, “it is expected that all parties concerned can build it into a brand-promoting project, so as to develop CSG into a world-class company with strong global competitiveness”.

During his visit to CSG’s Vietnam Representative Office in Hanoi, Mr. Bi required staff “strengthen efforts in the market development and the cooperation with Chinese-funded enterprises”.

While in Vietnam, Mr. Bi also paid a courtesy call to Yin Haihong, the temporary representative of the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Vietnam.

Ms. Yin praised the Vinh Tan I Coal-fired Power Plant Project as a model of Sino-Vietnamese capacity cooperation and said, “the embassy was willing to provide strong assistance for CSG and help solve difficulties”.

Mr. Bi also paid courtesy visits to:

• Mr. Mai Tien Dung, Minister-Chairman of the Vietnam Government Office

• Mr. Tran Tuan Anh, Minister of Industry and Trade of Vietnam

• Mr. Duong Quang Thanh, Chairman of the Electricity of Vietnam, and

• Mr. Nguyễn Hoàng Trung, Deputy-General Manager of the Vinacomin

Mr. Bi shared his passion and unbridled confidence in China Southern Power Grid building the “best power plant of its kind in this period and willingness to capitalize upon its own advantages to cooperate with local Vietnamese companies to build exciting new projects, thus contributing to Vietnam’s economic and social development”.
