The First and Third Sections of the China-Laos Railway Power Supply Project is Now Complete

Vientiane, Laos - Between February 20 and 22, the first and third sections of the external power supply project in the Laos part of the China-Laos Railway were completed, following the earlier completion of the second section on January 9.

To date, the entire project is 90% completed, with no COVID-19 cases reported among any of the 329 workers from both countries and zero accidents.

The project, serving as part of the supporting engineering of China-Laos railway construction, was undertaken by the Laos-China Power Investment Co., Ltd., a company co-founded by CSG Yunnan International Co., Ltd. and Electricite du Laos (EDL).

The project includes four sections and the 1st section covers 61.27km of 10 transmission lines.

It is also the one with the largest number of pole towers scattering on three provinces in Laos, namely Louang Namtha, Oudomxay, and Luang Prabang.

Phase three spans transmission lines of 65.88km, extending from Oudomxay to Luang Prabang. The set of lines crossed roads, villages, and rivers several times, resulting in construction difficulties.

As people celebrated Spring Festival in February of this year, all of the 224 Chinese workers only had three days off on-site, ensuring the project will be put into use by the end of March.

Staff did well in improving their work schedule, security and quality management, and virus control measures to make progress in advancing the project.

Next, Yunnan International Co., Ltd., along with other participants, will conduct the final test and quality examination on the project as planned, ensuring that it will be placed into operation on schedule.
