Huaneng Group Donating Money to Drought-stricken Regions

The severe drought that hit the five provinces in the southwest of China raised great concern in the employees of Huaneng. For days running, all the units under Huaneng donated money to the affected regions in response to the appeal of the Central Government to help the people there surmount difficulties, reflecting the traditional virtue of the Chinese nation of lending a helping hand when disaster strikes.

By the afternoon of April 2, the employees of China Huaneng Group head office and the units of Huaneng in Beijing had donated 434502.4 Yuan. On the same day, 1 million Yuan of special drought-combat funds of central enterprises donated by Huaneng and 100,000 Yuan donated by the Communist Youth League members of Huaneng in the activity of “each donating one bottle of drinking water” were transferred to the China Red Cross Foundation and Chongqing Youth Development Foundation.

Earlier, the enterprises of Huaneng in Yunnan Province had already donated over 4 million Yuan of cash and over 600,000 Yuan worth of materials to the province to help the people in the disaster-stricken areas fight the drought.
