Huang Yongda and Hu Jianmin Meet with Chairman of EDF

On December 7, Huang Yongda, Vice President of China Huaneng Group, and Hu Jianmin, Vice President of China Huaneng Group met with Henri Proglio, Chairman and CEO of EDF, and Hervé Machenaud, Executive Vice President and Asia Pacific Branch President of EDF. The two sides exchanged opinions on further strengthening cooperation in energy fields and jointly exploring international markets.

Huang Yongda said, China Huaneng Group and EDF have established a good foundation for cooperation. The two sides signed a Strategic Cooperation Agreement in 2004. EDF provided excellent technical consulting services in hydropower development for Huaneng Lancang River Hydropower Co., Ltd. As world-leading power companies, the two sides shall further strengthen cooperation and jointly explore international markets so as to achieve common development.

Huang Yongda pointed out that, China's power industry faces new challenges of climate change. It is an inevitable choice for power producers to accelerate structural adjustment and develop green energy. Under the new situation, China Huaneng Group and EDF shall jointly explore and build a brand-new cooperative relationship, and launch wide-ranging cooperation. He suggested that the two sides carry out more high-level exchanges, constantly explore new fields of cooperation, and jointly seek for profitable energy projects in Chinese and international markets; he also suggested that both sides strengthen exchange and cooperation in technical fields, display respective advantages in technology R&D concerning low-carbon technology and power plant efficiency, and jointly tackle key problems in research projects of common interests; Huang Yongda suggested that both sides strengthen exchange and cooperation in management fields, share best practice in management, carry out in-depth benchmarking in production, international operation and resources management, so as to continuously enhance management level; He also suggested that both sides strengthen exchange and cooperation in nuclear power fields, and share advanced experience of EDF in terms of nuclear power construction, operation and training of professional nuclear power talents.

Henri Proglio thanked China Huaneng Group for its warm reception. He totally agreed with Huang's suggestions on strengthening cooperation between the two sides. He said, EDF and China Huaneng Group have been cooperating pleasantly with each other. EDF is willing to establish a long-term strategic partnership with China Huaneng Group, constantly expand the range of cooperation, and seek deeper cooperation in joint exploration of international markets and technical R&D. He hoped that the two sides can build a platform for information sharing and talent communication, cultivate professional nuclear power talents, and learn from each other the advanced experience in nuclear power and ultra supercritical technology.
