Huaneng Signs Nuclear Power Training Memorandum with Duke Energy

In November 2010, Huaneng Group and US-based Duke Energy signed a Memorandum of Cooperation on nuclear power training in the headquarters of Duke Energy. Mr. Zhang Tingke, Vice President of China Huaneng Group and Mr. Dhiaa Jamil, Group Executive, Chief Generation Officer and Chief Nuclear Officer of Duke Energy Corporation witnessed the signing ceremony.

Duke Energy entered the field of nuclear power in the 1960s. At present, it has seven nuclear power generating units in South Carolina and North Carolina in the U.S. The company has many years of operating experience and safe operation records in nuclear power generation. And it has good foundation for cooperation with Huaneng. This is another cooperation agreement after the two sides signed a Memorandum of Understanding on clean energy cooperation in Beijing in 2009, marking a substantial step forward in the cooperation of nuclear power training. Mr. Wang Yongfu, President of Huaneng Shidaowan Nuclear Power Co., Ltd. and Mr. Brian Dolan, Vice President of Nuclear Plant Development of Duke Energy Corporation signed the memo on behalf of the two sides.
