CAO Peixi meets with Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen

On May 13th, Cao Peixi, Chairman of China Huaneng Group met with H.E. Hun Sen, the Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, who came to Beijing to attend the Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation. The two sides held friendly talks on strengthening energy cooperation in Cambodia and facilitating commercial operation of existing cooperation project on schedule. Fan Xiaxia, Vice President of China Huaneng Group attended the meeting.

H.E. Hun Sen thanked China Huaneng Group for its contribution to the economic and social development of Cambodia and spoke highly of the construction of the Lower Se-San River II Hydropower Project. He said, China Huaneng Group carries out the project with supreme attention to high quality, ecological and environmental protection, and high standards of the resettlement sites, and the Cambodian government has full confidence on the commercial operation of the project on schedule. The Cambodian government will continue to support Huaneng’s business development in Cambodia, and constantly explore new cooperation opportunities, and jointly promote the development of Cambodia's energy industry, so as to achieve mutual benefits.

Cao Peixi expressed his gratitude to H.E. Hun Sen for his support for Huaneng Lower Se-San River II Hydropower Project. He said, the Lower Se-San River II Hydropower Project is Huaneng’s first investment project in Cambodia, and it is also a significant project for Huaneng to actively participate in international power cooperation under the framework of the Belt and Road Initiative. With the joint efforts of both Huaneng and the Cambodian partners, the project is progressing smoothly and the first generating unit is scheduled to be put into operation in November this year. China Huaneng Group will give full play to its strength and advantages, and ensure high-quality construction, management and operation of the Lower Se-San River II Hydropower Project, and will further increase investment in Cambodia, so as to alleviate power shortage in Cambodia, and make positive contribution for Cambodia's economic and social development and public welfare.
