Huaneng actively participated in earthquake relief work

After the Ya'an Earthquake broke out on April 20, affiliated enterprises of China Huaneng Group in Sichuan not only completed anti-seismic work of their own, but also fulfilled its responsibility as a centrally-administered SOE by active participation in earthquake relief work together with local government.

Baoxing County was about 20 kilometers from the epicenter, with strong and continuous aftershocks. Landslides led to interruption of transport (Provincial Highway S210), power and communications. Huaneng Baoxing River Company opened its internal fixed telephone and network without hesitation, providing telecommunication support for local government, armed police, power department and the masses. This facilitated communication of rescue teams and local people with the outside world, timely establishing an information-based life channel.

Huaneng Baoxing River Company also organized a rescue team consisting of 246 people, who reopened the anti-disaster access from Yucheng County to Lushan County section of the National Highway 318 with large-scale construction machines. Subsequently, the rescue team, with earthquake relief and emergency supplies, went further into Qingren Village of Lushan County, the severely afflicted area near the epicenter, to carry out emergency rescue. On April 21, Huaneng Baoxing River Company, in response to the call of earthquake relief frontline command, re-organized staff to deliver urgently-needed emergency supplies such as diesel generators, cranes and loaders to Lushan County for emergence rescue.

After the earthquake, all operating staff at the power stations of Huaneng Sichuan Branch Company stuck to their posts. They guaranteed normal operation of the 11 power plants except those of Baoxing River Company, with the total installed capacity of 1,465.5MW, providing power for the stricken areas. So far, after emergency repair, the Tongtou and Qiaoqi power plants of Huaneng Baoxing River Company have been connected to the main power grid of Sichuan.
