Huaneng Taking Lead to Launch the Plan of “Green Coal-fired Power”

Huaneng Group took the lead in China to put forth the Plan of “Green Coal-fired Power”, which aims to high-efficiency coal-fired power generation and nearly zero emission of pollutants. Then, on May 17, 2005, it signed a contract for the feasibility study of coal-gasification technical transformation project phase 1 of the plan with Northwest Electric Power Design Institute, marking the formal launch of the plan. The overall goal of “Green Coal-fired Power” is: to research, develop, demonstrate and promote a coal-based energy system that generates power from gasified hydrogen and hydrogen energy with CO2 separated and treated, to significantly enhance the efficiency of coal-based power generation, to enable the coal-based power generation system to reach nearly zero emission of pollutants, including CO2.
