Cao Peixi met with the UK Secretary of State for Energy and Climate Change

On September 27, Mr. Cao Peixi, President of China Huaneng Group, met with the Rt Hon Edward Davey MP, UK Secretary of State for Energy and Climate Change. Both parties exchanged opinions on strengthening cooperation on low-carbon technology development and combating climate change.

Cao Peixi extended his warm welcome to Edward Davey, and introduced the efforts and achievements of China Huaneng Group on clean energy and low-carbon technology development such as carbon capture technology. He said, to reduce carbon dioxide emissions and combat climate change is the corporate social responsibility of Huaneng, and is also important for the sustainable development of the Company. Huaneng and the UK Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC) have a solid basis for cooperation. Huaneng is willing to work with the UK counterparts in low-carbon technology development, and to make more contribution to developing clean energy, safeguarding global energy security and combating climate change.

Edward Davey briefly introduced the energy market, its future planning, and low-carbon technology development in the UK. He said, UK is willing to strengthen exchange with Huaneng, and explore further cooperation in clean energy, low-carbon technology development and project investment, so as to jointly combat climate change.

After the meeting, Cao Peixi accompanied Edward Davey to visit the carbon capture facility in Huaneng Beijing Cogeneration Power Plant.
