All Units of Huaneng Lidi Hydropower Station Put into Operation

On 12:00 am, May 1st, the No.3 Unit of Lidi Hydropower Station, China Huaneng Group Co. Ltd., passed the 72-hour test run, and was formally put into operation. Thereafter, all three units of the station were in operation for power generation.

Lidi Hydropower Station locates within Diqing Prefecture, Yunnan Province. It is the cascade III station under the development plan of hydropower stations at the upper reaches of Lancang River. The total installed capacity is 420MW, with installation of 3 Kaplan-type water turbines, 140MW each. The annual electricity output is 1.753 billion kwhs. The first unit of the station was put into commercial operation on October 28th, 2018.

Lidi Hydropower Station is one of the important projects in the national strategy of West-to-East Power Transmission, and is an important component of Yunnan’s planning to cultivate power industry as the pillar industry, with hydropower as the main source. After being put into operation, the station will further facilitate Yunnan forging the brand of ‘Green Energy’, and will exert positive influence on the fast socio-economic development in the region.
