Huaneng Setting 13 New Records in Chinese Enterprises in 2007

Recently, a press conference was held in the Great Hall of the People on the “New Records of Chinese Enterprises (12th Batch)”. 13 projects of China Huaneng Group were selected into the list.

These 13 new records fully exhibit the progress made by Huaneng Group in independent innovation, technical progress, safe production, energy saving and consumption reduction, reflecting the unremitting efforts made in reform and development.Nearly one half of the 13 new records is related to independent innovation.

In its development, Huaneng Group always targets the advanced electric power technologies of the world to improve its technical innovation system that integrates enterprises, universities and researches institutes, making achievements one after another in independent innovation. Generator set #1 of Yuhuan Power Plant is the first in China to use P92 metal materials and welding technology. For the purpose of the generator set, a supporting seawater desalination project has been built to become the first in China to use the “dual film method” desalination process and have the largest capacity; the two supercritical coal-fired generator sets of 600,000KW in Qinbei Power Plant are the first such sets made in China; In the construction of Jinghong Hydropower Station, Lancang River Hydropower Company was the first in China to use hydraulic concrete admixture and applied it successfully to the gravity dam of roller compacted concrete of over 100 m in height; besides, in 2006, Huaneng invented and successfully implemented a special plan for hydropower gains, which was the first case of securitization of electric power assets; the CFB boiler of 210 MW developed by Xi’an Thermal Power Research Institute passed 96-hour trial run to become the first of its kind in China.

The 4 records of technical progress reflect the relentless pursuit of Huaneng Group for all-round enhancement of its technology and equipment by relying on the scientific and technological progress. The records include the following: The temperature of the main steam and reheated steam of generator set #1 of Yuhuan Power Plant reached 600℃, setting a new record for the first 1 million USC coal-fired generator set put into operation in China; in the dam foundation excavation of Xiaowan Hydropower Station, Lancang River Hydropower Company set a new record in creating the highest side slope in China; the outgoing lines of Lengzhuguan Hydropower Station of Kangding Hydropower Company under Sichuan Hydropower Company set a record in domestic power transmission lines of 220KV in heavy ice areas; in 2002, Kangding Hydropower Company put into operation a comprehensive automation system of remote monitoring and production management to keep the hydropower station as far as 320km away under real-time monitoring, the longest distance of remote monitoring of hydropower facilities in China.

In energy saving and consumption reduction, in 2006, the generator sets #3 and #4 of Fuzhou Power Plant were selected for the new record they set in similar domestic generator units, i.e. 299.79g/KWH consumption of standard coal for power consumption and 3.31% of power consumption rate for station service; in 2005, generator set #5 of Jining Power Plant attained 359.75g/KWH of coal consumption, setting a new record in similar domestic generator sets.

Besides, turbo generator set #4 of Huaneng Dalian Power Plant set new world record with 712 days of continuous safe operation, the longest for thermal generator sets.The selection of new records of Chinese enterprises is an activity for public good launched jointly by China Association of Enterprises and China Association of Entrepreneurs, involving the participation of 35 trade associations and local associations of enterprises. So far, 12 batches of 4770 new records have been released in relation to 35 industries of the country. Since 2003, Huaneng Group has won 31 new records.
