Demonstration Project Put into Operation One Year Ahead of Schedule

On December 30, 2006, generator set #2 of Huaneng Yuhuan Power Plant completed a 168-hour trial run under full load, meaning that the first homemade 1 million KW USC power station project of China—phase 1 project of Huaneng Yuhuan Power Plant was put into commercial operation 8 months ahead of the scheduled deadline.

Yuhuan Power Plant is a coal-fired power plant in China with the highest heat efficiency and comprehensive environmental protection performance, but lowest power-generating coal consumption of its generator sets. The heat efficiency of the generator sets reaches as high as 45% and power-generating coal consumption is 288.5 g/KWH; it has completed a seawater desalination project with the largest capacity in China, which is the first in China to use “dual film method” seawater desalination technology, making it possible to produce 1440 m3/h of water and save 8 million m3 of freshwater resources each year. The desulphurization project was put into operation concurrently.
