China Huadian granted the honor of “ 2017 Top Enterprises with Contribution to Green Energy in China”

China Huadian was awarded the honor of “2017 Top Enterprise with Contribution to Green Energy in China” at the “7^th China Energy High-level Dialogue in 2017”which was launched by Xinhua Net and convened in Beijing on August 17.

Since the beginning of this year, China Huadian has thoroughly studied and applied the spirits of Xi Jinping’s major speeches and his new idea and new strategy about the governance of China; earnestly implemented significant strategies and deployments of the Central Committee of CPC, the State Council and the SASAC. It has also stick to steady growth and adjusted work accordingly. Under the goal of optimizing energy supply, China Huadian has improved efficiency and performance, speeded up transformation and upgrading, and new outlooks for each aspect of its business began to show.  

1. China Huadian accelerates development of clean energy to upgrade energy mix. It vigorously explores hydropower, gas power, gas-fueled DES and steadily develops new energies like wind and PV. All of its newly commissioned units in this year run on clean energies, adding its proportion of nameplate capacity for this kind up to 38%. It now owns the the largest heavy gas turbines in China and the most advanced natural gas -fired DES facility. It also has the largest fleet of hydro units than other similar power generators in China. China Huadian took an intiative to suspend its 12 new coal-fired stations totaling 15,000 MW from construction, a volume nearly 10% of its total installed capacity, as its firm response to the state’s call for controlling coal power.   

2. China Huadian takes great efforts to conserve energy and reduce emissions and has cut its pollutant emissions to record lows for several times. To achieve its goal of “supplying power with low energy consumption, low emissions and high efficiency”, China Huadian further upgrades its facilities and improves desulfurization, denitration, dust-removal for coal-fired units up to 98%, 95%, 100%. Over half of Huadian’s incumbent coal-fired units have been upgraded for ultra low emissions and all of its newly commissioned coal-fired units are synchronously installed with such facilities. According to its own statistics, during the 12^th Five-Tear Plan period, China Huadian has cut its emissions of SO₂ and NO_x by 49% and 56% and 13% and 23% in just 2016, an equivalent of the volume absorbed by 4.2 acres full-grown forests in one year. From 2013-2016, China Huadian has increased its installed capacity, power and heating supply by 9%, 6%, 11% and merely added carbon emissions by 3%.   

3. China Huadian is dedicated to practicing and conveying its social responsibilities and has established itself as a responsible enterprise. It has published Corporate Sustainability Development Report for 10 consecutive years. It actively interacts with the society for broadcasting positive energy. In recent years, it has donated 1 billion yuan in total for disaster-relief and public welfare. Last year, China Huadian supported the construction of a solar power station in Nyima County, Tibet, which fulfilled its promise of keeping locals warm and power-ensured.
