Zhao Jianguo in Indonesia and India

On March 20-27, China Huadian Party Leadership Group Secretary, Board Chairman Zhao Jianguo went to Indonesia and India, investigated Huadian’s projects there, visited local officials and Chinese embassy and researched local power markets. 

Chairman Zhao Jianguo visited Huadian’s Bali Island power plant, including its control center, plant facility, generating building, dock and reserved area for phase 2 to review its generation and management performance, units operation, ash storage and coal unloading. He also attended the work reports presented by CHD Power Plant Operation Company, Overseas Engineering subsidiary of China Huadian Engineering Company and project company PT. General Energy Bali. Chairman Zhao sent his regards to workers there on site, appreciated their work and demanded that Huadian’s overseas plants should be further improved. He noted that relevant subsidiaries should further explore overseas markets in accordance with state’s Belt and Road initiative and Huadian corp’s strategic layout. He asked them to study local needs and actively shoulder their economic, political and social responsibilities and guard against risks. He encouraged them to press ahead and contribute to Huadian’s efforts of accomplishing its strategic goal “2218”. ( At the end of the period covered by the 13th Five-Year Plan, CHD will reduce pollutants emissions for per kWh of electric power generated by 20% from the level at the end of the 12nd Five-Year Plan period; cut energy consumption by 20 grams; increase international business revenue to 10% of total annual revenue; achieve a 8% or higher return rate of net assets.)

While in Indonesia, Chairman Zhao met with Ignasius Jonan, Indonesian Minister for Energy and Mineral Resources, exchanging views on exploring Indonesian power markets and further enhancing cooperation. Chairman Zhao extended his gratitude to the great support from the ministry, introduced Huadian’s recent progress and global strategy, and pledged to highly value business in Indonesia. He called on two parts to strengthen communication and collaboration to supply stable power for local economic and social development. Minister Jonan appreciated Huadian’s contribution to Indonesian power sector and promised further supports. A number of potential collaborative opportunities were also included in their discussion.   

Chairman Zhao and his delegation also paid visits to Chinese ambassador to Indonesia H.E. Xie Feng and Chinese Consul General in Denpasar Hu Yinquan, and witnessed agreement signing ceremony for a hydro project on Balito river, Kalimantan, Indonesia between Huadian Hongkong company and Indonesian shareholders. 

Chairman Zhao also paid visits to Chinese ambassador to India H.E. Luo Zhaohui, Economic and Commercial Counselor for Chinese Embassy in India Li Baijun. He also talked with experts on Indian power market, exploring extensive topics including policies for foreign investment admission to Indian power market, Indian power supply and demand dynamic and power trading mechanism.
