Group Company Holds National Poverty Alleviation Day Themed Activity

On China’s sixth National Poverty Alleviation Day on October 17, China Energy launched a donation campaign themed on “poverty relief.” Deputy CEO Gao Song mobilized the staff to devote themselves to poverty alleviation and public welfare undertakings, rally the forces of all parties and ensure standardization and transparency, so as to make sure the staff’s donation gets where it is intended to go and has a positive effect.

Gao required that during this National Poverty Alleviation Day themed activity, importance should be attached to enhancing transparency and results of the donation should be announced on the company’s publicity bulletins and intranet. The use of the charity fund should be carefully considered and focused on solving pressing problems for the poverty-stricken people, while being strictly monitored and examined. The auditing department must audit the use and management of the money in a timely manner. News and information departments at all levels should step up publicity and reports on the company’s efforts for poverty alleviation and other charitable purposes, tell enticing stories and promote best practices.

During the activity, Chen Qifeng Public Welfare Team from Hebei Hengfeng Power Generation Co., Ltd. gave a lecture on the charitable deeds of Chen Qifeng, one of China’s first Five-Star Volunteers and winner of the “National Most Beautiful Volunteer” title, who has devoted himself to public welfare for 16 years. A pupil from Abu Zelu Primary School in Butuo County, Sichuan Province, spoke on behalf of the students benefiting from Chen’s donations.

During last year’s National Poverty Alleviation Day themed activity, China Energy staff donated a total of 12 million yuan, all of which have been used for education in nine counties under targeted poverty alleviation and the paring assistance program.
