China Energy Wins Awards at ‘HE Cup’ China Hydropower Generation Unit Maintenance and Repair Vocational Skills Competition

The 36th “HE Cup” China Hydropower Generation Unit Overhaul Vocational Skills Competition concluded at Harbin Electric Machinery Co., Ltd. under Harbin Electric Corporation (HE) on July 24. The 15 contestants from the five teams sent by China Energy made outstanding performances at the competition. Of them, the five contestants from Dahu River Overhaul and Installation Co., Ltd. won second and third prizes for individuals, respectively, and two teams from the company won second and third group awards. The teams from GD Power Development Co., the Jiangxi Branch and Changyuan Power won excellent group awards. China Energy was awarded the Prize for Excellent Organization.

The four-day competition attracted 126 contestants in 42 teams from 10 power corporations including China Grid, China Southern Power Grid, China Energy, and China Three Gorges Corporation. It consisted of three parts: theoretical tests, individual items, and group items. Ten renowned hydropower experts from those corporations formed a team to set the topics for the competition, and the jury was comprised of professionals from the industry. Moreover, the competition formulated strict evaluation standards and a systematic and complete arbitration, providing a platform for Chinese hydropower overhaul technicians to compete, exchange and improve their vocational skills.
