The 2019 Maritime Emergency Response Drill, sponsored by China Energy and Cangzhou Maritime Safety Administration and organized by Shenhua Huanghua Port Co., Ltd., took place on June 20. As the largest maritime emergency response drill sponsored by China Energy so far, the drill mobilized one helicopter and 12 most advanced Chinese ships for maritime search and rescue, fire fighting, harbor work, fishing administration and decontamination, as well as more than 120 participants. Li Dong, Deputy CEO of China Energy, observed the drill.
The scenario of the drill was that a certain vessel touched an unknown underwater object near Huanghua Port, with one crew member injured, one crew member falling into the sea, a fire in the bow storage and damage to the fuel tank. Having been alerted, the Cangzhou Maritime Safety Administration quickly responded by setting up a joint command center to implement relevant emergency response plans. Rescue ships and the helicopter were sent to the scene. The people in distress were rescued successfully and the fire was put out. The oil spilling from the fuel tank was also successfully contained and removed.
The drill was an important activity of China Energy’s “Production Safety Month”. It was also a way for the group company to fulfill its own responsibilities as the main actor. The drill fully demonstrates China Energy’s determination to enhance the ability of maritime emergency response in an all-round way for intrinsic safety and high-quality development.
