China Energy’s First Coal Industry Technology Conference

On June 13-14, China Energy’s First Coal Industry Technology Conference was held in Beijing. The participants exchanged their views on coal production technology and attended presentations by some academicians from the Chinese Academy of Engineering. The conference also made plans for next step work in technological innovation of the coal industry. Liu Feng, vice president of the China National Coal Association (CNCA), attended the conference. Li Dong, Deputy General Manager of China Energy, also attended the conference and delivered a speech.

In his speech, Li emphasized the importance of scientific innovation. He pointed out that it is necessary to fully understand the significance of innovation in the coal industry in dealing with the international situation, economic and social development, building a world-class demonstration enterprise, promoting high-quality development of the coal industry, and enhancing the sense of responsibility for innovation. All the national-level research platforms and research institutes directly subordinate to the group should join hands with other research institutes and institutions of higher learning in improving their innovation capability with the group’s preferential policies in human resources, financial support, etc. Li also called for more pragmatic efforts in building a technological innovation system that integrates decision-making, management, R&D, application and commercialization of innovative technologies, in order to accelerate the high-quality development of the coal industry.

During the conference, the participants exchanged views on 14 subjects, including intelligent mining, quick tunneling, non-pillar coal mining, intelligent coal processing plant, and coal mine projects to optimize efficiency and safety while reducing staff. Academicians Kang Hongpu, Wang Guofa and Gu Dazhao made some presentations.
