China Energy Wins Prizes in the National Competition of the Overhaul of Large-scale Hydroelectric Turbines

On September 4, the 2020 National Competition of the Overhaul of Large-scale Hydroelectric Turbines ended at the Liujiaxia Hydropower Plant in Gansu Province. A total of 196 players in 37 teams from state power grid groups and local energy companies, including the State Grid Corporation of China and the China Southern Power Grid, took part in the competition. The team sent by the China Energy Investment Corporation demonstrated its high level skills, and won a Second Group Prize. Seven players from the Dadu River Hydropower Development Corporation and the Guodian Changyuan Electric Power Corporation, two subsidiaries of the China Energy, won first, second, and third prizes. Two players from China Energy were awarded the National Leading Talent of the Power Industry while another two were awarded the National Technical Expert of the Power Industry. The prizes and the titles demonstrated the corporate image of China Energy.

The National Competition of the Overhaul of Large-scale Hydroelectric Turbines is a national competition that covers all regions, river basins and power companies in China. Sponsored by the China Union of Energy and Chemical Geology and the China Association for Water and Electricity Quality Management, the State Grid Corporation of China organized the competition with the support of State Grid Gansu Electric Power Company and its affiliated Liujiaxia Reservoir Hydropower Plant. The two games of this competition were simulation overhauls of center measurement of motor assembling units and the repair and scraping of babbitt bearings (cab guide bearings), and were operated on the vertical mixed-flow suspended turbine generator units, a kind of representative and general generator units commonly applied in China. The competition is helpful for building talent teams featuring knowledge, skills and innovation, and plays a positive role in cultivating, selecting and encouraging high-skill talents in China’s power industry.
