China Energy Sichuan Branch Ranks First in Regional Coal-fired Power Generation Duration in February

China Energy Sichuan branch generated electricity of 3.41 billion kWh in February, a year-on-year increase of 154.5%. That month, its coal-fired power plants generated electricity of nearly 2.97 billion kWh and operated for 524 hours, the highest in the province and 20 hours more than the regional average.

The Sichuan branch has long played a central role in stabilizing power supply in the province, with its power generation volume in February reaching a historical high. Taking the specific safety check during the Spring Festival as an opportunity, the company conducted meticulous screening and treatment of potential risks by adopting a “closed-loop” policy combining comprehensive self-examination and key safety supervision, so as to lay a solid foundation for production safety. To advance the work to control and reduce unplanned shutdowns, it also specified relevant work plans, strengthened the fulfillment of responsibilities at all levels, and solidified maintenance efforts to ensure stable, safe operations of equipment. In addition, through coordinating coal and power markets, leveraging the opportunity of surging demand for electricity in low-temperature weathers and communicating with the scheduling authority, the company arranged the operating hours of its 1GW generation units in advance and enhanced their operational efficiency, leading its counterparts in the region in coal-fired power plant operating duration. At the same time, it adopted a rational transaction strategy and obtained more electricity generation quotas through the monthly transaction market and the spot market, in an effort to generate more power with greater benefits.
