Baotou-Shenmu Railway Honored as National Civilized Units in Transportation Industry

Recently, China’s Ministry of Transport promulgated the Decision on Commending Advanced Units and Individuals of Spiritual Civilization Construction in Transportation Industry (2016-2017), awarding the title of “National Civilized Units in Transportation Industry” to 198 units including Baotou-Shenmu Railway.

Baotou-Shenmu Railway is China’s fifth rail with an annual transport capacity exceeding 100 million tons following the Datong-Qinhuangdao, Daliuta-Shuozhou, Houma-Yueshan and Shuozhou-Huanghua railways, handling coal loading for more than 55 percent of China Energy’s core coal mines. In 2018, its south line witnessed a high level of loading and transportation, handling 102 trains per day during non-maintenance periods and 76 trains per day during maintenance periods, transporting 144.97 million tons of coal throughout the year, an increase of 1.28 million tons over 2017. In collaboration with the Hohhot Rail of China Railway, its north line achieved full-process management and control and dynamic allocation of coal for power generation within its jurisdiction, transporting 28.29 million tons of coal throughout the year, an increase of 5.41 million tons over 2017.
