China Energy Launches the ‘Year of Responsibility Implementation’ for Safety and Environmental Protection

On January 8, the Safe Production Committee of China Energy Group held its first meeting of 2019, reviewing the group’s performance in safe production and environmental protection in 2018 while announcing plans for ensuring safety and environmental sustainability in 2019. Qiao Baoping, chairman of China Energy Group, presided over the meeting and made summary remarks.

Qiao noted that 2019 marks the group’s “Year of Responsibility Implementation” for safety and environmental protection, and stressed to enhance the sense of mission towards safety and environmental work and strengthen responsibility implementation, supervision, inspection and accountability. The mentality of avoiding hidden safety and environmental risks by chance should be discarded, and unsafe employees and unsafe behaviors should not be tolerated, he added. Efforts should be made to eradicate not only major hidden dangers and key problems but also tiny risks so as to maintain lasting peace and security.

For seasonal and holiday occasions, Qiao requested to prepare emergency plans in advance and strengthen measures for risk prevention and control. He also called for efforts to respond to extreme weather such as snowstorms, downpours, freezing temperatures and cold waves by securing personnel, materials, equipment and evacuation shelters and strictly prevent secondary accidents from happening.
