Jiangsu Branch Wins the Only Zhan Tianyou Award in China’s Coal-fired Power Industry

On January 13, two 660MW secondary reheat coal-fired generating units of Suqian Company of China Energy’s Jiangsu Branch were awarded the “19th China Civil Engineering Zhan Tianyou Award,” making the company the first coal-fired power generator to win the honor since the award was established.

Focusing on the highly efficient and flexible utilization of secondary reheat generating units, the project has developed such key technologies as flue gas recirculation temperature regulation, “three in one” joint valve for the main steam, regulator and make-up steam, efficient heat supply driven by both steam turbines and electricity, intelligent power generation control system and intelligent power generation for public sector, which filled the gaps in the industry. The project adopts 17 Chinese new energy-saving technologies, 21 technologies in eight categories of new technologies in the construction industry, and 55 new technologies in the power industry. Since the project was put into operation, the generating units have been operating safely and stably, with all indicators reaching the design requirements and indicators of energy consumption, power generation efficiency and environmental protection setting world records among generating units at the same class. At present, the project has obtained five invention patents, 32 utility model patents, 11 provincial and ministerial science and technology progress awards, one engineering award at the provincial and ministerial level, and 14 QC Achievement Awards. It has also won the title of Model Intelligent Power Plant in the Power Industry, the China Electric Power Quality Engineering Award, and other honors.

The China Civil Engineering Zhan Tianyou Award is a national honor for China’s construction sector recognized by the Ministry of Housing and Construction, as well as one of the first science and technology awards approved by the Ministry of Science and Technology, covering construction engineering, bridge engineering, railway engineering, tunnel engineering and electric power engineering. It is also the highest honor for scientific and technological innovation in China’s civil engineering field.
