Groundbreaking for China Energy’s First 5G Intelligent Station along Baoshen Railway

On June 5, China Energy broke ground on its first 5G intelligent station along Baoshen (Baotou-Shenmu) Railway. Known as Wanshuiquan South Station, the project is the first pilot station established since a strategic cooperation agreement on “5G Boosts Smart Baoshen” was signed among Baoshen Railway Group, China Telecom and Huawei Technologies.

Baoshen Railway’s enthusiastic exploration and application of 5G technology in a heavy haul railway heralds its new journey to an intelligently-managed “Smart Baoshen.” Leveraging the advantages of 5G technology and aiming at a “visual, driverless, autonomous and intelligent” station, the pilot project will continue to make bold innovations in terms of intelligent control, intelligent detection, intelligent maintenance, intelligent transportation intelligent management and intelligent decision-making, so as to create a new operation and management model for smart heavy haul railway.

Next, Baoshen Railway Group will conduct in-depth cooperation with China Telecom, Huawei Technologies, universities and research academies to achieve full coverage of 5G signal at its headquarters, branch companies and important command and transportation hubs such as Wulanmulun, Batuta, Hailesihaonan and Ganqimao railway stations, and realize instantaneous transmission of “sensing layer” data. Through calculation and analysis based on Huawei’s data center, it aims to create its own “private cloud” which will allow for integration of the existing “great perception” modules. It will also introduce the latest technologies of smart railway construction, improve top-level design, and upgrade safety management, equipment quality and scientific innovations to create an intelligent, high-efficiency and eco-friendly rail transport thoroughfare.
