China Energy-aided Mizhi County Officially Out of Poverty

Recently, official website of the People’s Government of Shaanxi Province published an announcement stating that Mizhi County in Shaanxi’s Yulin City had been officially removed from China’s list of impoverished counties. Mizhi thus became the sixth China Energy-aided county to shake off poverty, and China Energy was honored by the municipal government of Yulin as an outstanding contributor to nongovernmental poverty relief of the year 2018.

In 2018, China Energy earmarked a sum of more than 29.33 million yuan for poverty relief in Mizhi and Wubu counties in Shaanxi. The 20-plus poverty relief projects funded by the company include Yangjiagou flood discharge channel and parking lots, a solar street lighting project, and the No. 6 Kindergarten in Mizhi County, as well as Dongzhuang Village’s dried noodle factory, installation of water purifiers for farming households of Songjiachuan Town’s eight villages, and installation of water purifiers for farming households of Xinjiagou’s 20 villages in Wubu County. The company’s efforts of poverty alleviation through industrial development, education and e-commerce have greatly promoted local infrastructure construction and economic growth, helped farmers increase income, and effectively improved rural ecological environment and farmers’ living quality.

In December 2018, Mizhi County was cited as one of the “2018 China Top Ten Demonstration Counties for Targeted Poverty Reduction.” This is China Energy’s reward for the hardworking local villagers, as well as a gift to the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China.
