Gao Song Heads a Delegation to Qinghai Province to Encourage Poverty Alleviation

From April 23 to 26, Deputy CEO Gao Song, on behalf of China Energy, visited Qumalai County and Gangcha County of Qinghai Province to inspect and encourage the company’s poverty relief work. During the visit, he also called on Li Jiexiang, member of the Standing Committee of Qinghai Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of China and vice governor of Qinghai Province.

In Qumalai County, Gao Song and his entourage visited two herding households aided by China Energy in Maduo Township, inspected the assistance construction projects at the Nationality Middle School and the Orphan School as well as the vegetable greenhouse project, and listened to the work report on the progress of ecological conservation project at the source of the Yellow River in Maduo Township. In Gangcha County, the delegation inspected the alpine plateau fruit and vegetable base, the poverty alleviation industrial park, a motor-pumped well project and a national health center.

Gao stressed the need to achieve a win-win situation between ecological protection and poverty alleviation, pledging to establish a “special fund for ecological conservation of the Yellow River source area in Maduo Township,” continue to implement ban on herding and promote ecological protection in the core area at the source of the Yellow River, and expand no-pastoral areas. China Energy will continue to strengthen its poverty alleviation efforts through ecological methods, industrial development, education, health care and consumption and enhance supervision and management to ensure that funds and resources for poverty alleviation are directed to poor villages and households in need so as to improve the effectiveness of poverty alleviation, Gao added.

When meeting with Vice Governor Li Jiexiang, Gao Song said that China Energy adheres to ecological conservation and green development, makes every effort to promote prohibited grazing and ecological protection in the core Yellow River source area in Maduo Township, Qumalai County, and will continue to leverage the company’s strengths to advance new energy projects in Qinghai. Li Jiexiang praised the fruitful work of China Energy in providing targeted poverty alleviation assistance to Qinghai, especially its active efforts in promoting prohibited grazing and ecological protection in the core Yellow River source area, which demonstrates a central enterprise’s social responsibility and its contribution to ecological, economic and social benefits to local development. He also expressed hopes that both sides will strengthen cooperation to help the province achieve a win-win situation between economic growth and ecological sustainability.
