On March 20, China Energy held a video conference in Beijing to kick off the construction of the Huangda Railway (Hebei section) project. CEO Liu Guoyue announced the launch of the project at the meeting, which was presided over by Deputy CEO Wang Shumin. Relevant leaders from Hebei Provincial Development and Reform Commission, railway construction authorities, Cangzhou Municipal Party Committee and Municipal Government, and Huanghua Municipal Party Committee and Municipal Government, as well as representatives from the construction and supervision agencies of the project, attended the meeting at different venues in Shijiazhuang, Cangzhou and Huanghua South Railway Station, respectively.
Liu Guoyue noted that groundbreaking of the Hebei section of the Huangda Railway marks a concrete action to accelerate the launch and resumption of major investment projects while reducing the impact of the epidemic on the economy. It is also an important node in China Energy’s construction of a railway network, he added. China Energy should build the Huangda Railway into a demonstration project in its journey towards a world-class energy conglomerate. With equal attention paid to both railway construction and epidemic containment, every effort should be made to ensure the safety of workers and the quality and speed of the project construction.
Relevant leaders from Hebei Provincial Development and Reform Commission, railway construction authorities, Cangzhou Municipal Party Committee and Municipal Government, and Huanghua Municipal Party Committee and Municipal Government fully affirmed the preliminary work of the project, put forward requirements on the construction of the project, and wished the project a successful completion.
Huangda Railway is a key project as part of China’s Medium-and Long-term Railway Network Plan and the Three-year Action Plan for Promoting Transport Structure Adjustment (2018-2020). It starts from Huanghua South Station of Shuohuang Railway and passes through Cangzhou in Hebei and Binzhou, Dongying and Weifang in Shandong before entering Dajiawa Station of Yiyang Railway. It is a national first-class, single-track electrified heavy-haul railway. Of its total length of 216.8 kilometers, 172.6 kilometers in the territory of Shandong have been paved while the 44.2-kilometer Hebei section is expected to be completed by the end of this year. Connected with the Delongyan Railway, which leads to Longkou Port, the railroad is designed to annually transport 31.97 million tons of freight after completion and 47.52 million tons in the long term.
