Beilun Power Plant Sets a National Record with All Its Seven Generating Units Earning Prizes at the Same Time

On May 21, the China Electricity Council (CEC) unveiled the 2020 list of winners at the energy efficiency competition of coal-fired power generating units, according to which seven large-capacity coal-fired generating units of Beilun Power Plant under the Zhejiang Branch of China Energy were all on the list, setting a national record and marking that the power plant leads the nation in terms of energy efficiency.

The No.7 unit of Beilun Power Plant won the highest AAAAA prize among 1,000MW ultra-supercritical wet cooling units, and the No.6 unit won the AAA prize; The No.1 unit won the AAAA prize among 600MW sub-supercritical wet cooling units, and the No.2 unit won the AAA prize and the best performance award in power consumption rate. In addition, the No.4 and No.5 units that Zhejiang Energy Group Co., Ltd. entrusts Beilun Power Plant to manage won the AAAA prize among 600MW sub-supercritical wet cooling units, and the No.3 unit won the AAA prize.

The competition aims to showcase the best energy efficiency performance of various kinds of generating units through evaluating such indexes as reliability, cost efficiency, technical supervision, and environmental protection. Beilun Power Plant is China’s first large-scale coal-fired power plant funded with loans from the World Bank. Over the past three decades since it began operation in the 1990s, in order to build a world-class power plant, it has constantly strengthened basic management, promoted technological advancement and reduced energy consumption and missions, exploring a road of green, low-carbon development.
