NPC Deputy Wu Ying: Boosting Energy Cooperation with Mongolia amid Implementation of the Belt and Road Initiative

As a pillar of China’s strategy of “Four Revolutions and One Cooperation” for energy security development, “One Cooperation” means comprehensively strengthening international cooperation to achieve energy security under open conditions. Mongolia, a land neighbor of China, is blessed with high-quality low-sulfur coking coal that is scarce in China, as well as wind, solar and other renewable energy resources.

At the ongoing annual session of the National People’s Congress (NPC), Wu Ying, an NPC deputy from Xilaifeng Coking Plant of the Coal Coking Company under China Energy Investment Corporation suggested that to implement the Belt and Road Initiative, China should carry out comprehensive and in-depth cooperation with Mongolia in the field of energy, change the traditional cooperation mode of importing coal resources from Mongolia, and promote integrated development of coal, wind energy, solar energy and other renewable energy resources.
