China’s First Multi-Platform Tunnel Maintenance Vehicle Put into Operation on Shuohuang Railway

China’s first multi-platform tunnel maintenance vehicle was put into operation on the cargo transport line of Dongye Station rail transport material base of Shuohuang Railway Co., Ltd. under China Energy on March 30, filling the domestic void in mechanized railway tunnel maintenance.

To accelerate the transition of tunnel maintenance from labor-intensive operation to mechanized operation, Shuohuang Railway organized China Railway 12th Bureau Group Co., Ltd., Shanghai Tianyou, CRCC High-tech Equipment Co., Ltd. to spend two years developing the country’s first multi-platform tunnel maintenance vehicle that can achieve comprehensive, mechanized dual-tunnel diagnosis and maintenance. The vehicle consists of a NX70 flat carriage, a multi-platform operating device, an engine unit, a mounting device, a lifting device, a track fixer, etc. It can flexibly combine with trains, locomotives, and flat carriages through a variety of connecting methods such as hinge jointing and elevating scissors to provide tunnel operating platforms equipped with a multitude of operating modules. It makes tunnel maintenance more convenient and efficient.

The vehicle has passed safety assessment and verification by experts. Compared to human tunnel maintenance operation, it can enhance efficiency by 3-5 times, thus facilitating overall railway tunnel maintenance.
