From July 30 to 31, China Energy Investment Corporation (hereinafter “China Energy”) held a conference on implementing national transportation structural adjustment and promoting experience sharing in the transport sector. The conference aimed to spread the guiding principles of the videophone conference on national transportation structural adjustment and sum up the company’s advanced experience in the field of transportation.
The conference reviewed the operations of China Energy’s transportation business in the first half of 2020. Despite negative impact from the COVID-19 epidemic, all transport subsidiaries of China Energy strengthened the effort to “shift from highway freight to railway freight,” strove to increase coal transportation and expand the non-coal transport market, and took a plethora of measures to make up the deficits in transport indicators. In the first six months of the year, China Energy transported 220 million tons of cargo by railway, accomplished shipments of 120 million tons at two ports, and shipped 77.72 million tons of cargo.
The conference pointed out that considering the epidemic situation, it is a tough task for China Energy to atone for deficits and seek growth in transport business, as the group is facing pressure to realize the goals of its three-year transportation structural adjustment action plan. It also urged all transport subsidiaries to uphold the objectives of the year, keep a close eye on the indicators of “net profit, total profit, debt-asset ratio, operating profit ratio and research investment ratio,” and advance the implementation of the three-year transportation structural adjustment action plan. In specific work, they should: first, enhance the bottom-line awareness, strengthen emergency response measures, ensure safety in the flooding season, and continue improving environmental protection management and control to ensure safety and stability of environmental protection work; second, further tap potential and enhance efficiency, advance the effort to make up deficits and increase transport volumes, and strengthen coordinated effort to fulfill yearly objectives; third, actively draw transport needs to rail lines, effectively advance transport restructuring, strengthen the obtainment of coal sources, promote “big logistics,” optimize transport plans, and partially adjust the basic train diagram in due time; fourth, focus on innovation-driven development, vigorously enhance quality and efficiency, and accelerate the pace towards a world-class enterprise.
