Daduhe’s Key Technology for Cascade Hydropower Price Bidding Certified as World Class

On August 6, China Society for Hydropower Engineering evaluated the result of “Cascade Hydropower Price Bidding PRP Self-coupling and Key Technology Research and Application” project launched by Daduhe Hydropower Development Co., Ltd. under China Energy. Experts from the Chinese Academy of Engineering and Tsinghua University all agreed that the result of the research project can enhance hydropower operation and management capacity and give full play to hydropower resources in the Daduhe River valley and has made substantive contributions to promoting healthy and sustainable development of clean energy and accelerating technological progress in the hydropower industry. The technology has been certified as reaching a world-leading level.

In the face of challenges such as uncertain runoffs of the Dadu River, complexities in cascade hydropower pricing integrated optimization and bidding strategies, high fluctuations in clearing prices, and lack of decision-making support mechanisms, Daduhe developed a PRP-based key technology for self-coupling cascade hydropower price bidding through combined efforts of production, education and research institutions to solve technical bottlenecks in cascade hydroelectricity price bidding caused by problems such as multiple hydropower development entities, scattered grid supply points, and varying costs and reservoir adjustment capacities. Moreover, the machine learning-based hydropower market clearing price prediction technology it developed gives solution to optimizing cascade hydropower price bidding strategies in a multi-time and multi-proprietor environment. The company has also produced technological outcomes including the cascade hydropower station spot trading decision-making support system. All technological outcomes have been applied in market transactions of cascade hydropower stations in the Dadu River and other river valleys.
