China Energy Convenes 2020 Coal Industry Conference

On February 18, China Energy Investment Corporation (China Energy) convened its 2020 coal industry conference, as a move to fully implement the spirit of the corporation’s 2020 work conference and safety and environmental protection work conference and make arrangements for work concerning the coal industry.

In 2019, all coal-related companies under China Energy insisted on advancing high-quality development, making remarkable achievements. That year, the corporation’s 61 coal mines maintained safe production for more than 1,000 days altogether, 16 underground coal mines achieved safe production for 10 straight years, Shendong Coal Co., Ltd. saw zero safety accidents in the process of producing nearly 400 million tons of coal, and 29 coal mines were listed among national or provincial green mines. The work efficiency of its coal mines reached 38.6 tons per worker. The ultra-large fully mechanized coal mining face of Shendong Shangwan Coal Mine created a new record by producing 60,200 tons of coal per day. The corporation has maintained stable production of commercial coal and accomplished many major tasks of coal supply nationwide.

The 2020 goals of China Energy in the coal industry include ensuring production of commercial coal is completed as scheduled, completing major tasks related to coal mine major disaster and risk control, environmental protection, intelligent mining, green mining, promotion and application of non-pillar coal mining technology, construction of major engineering projects, building a world-class demonstration enterprise as scheduled, and realizing wide-ranging progress in construction and management of coal mines.

All coal-related companies must step up risk precaution and management, gradually realize mining without the need of human miners or needing few human miners, build transparent mines and mining faces, and further improve production safety. Major breakthroughs should be made in the research and application of intelligent coal mining, intelligent coal mining faces, smart coal washing, coal mining robotics, rapid excavation systems, and homegrown open-air heavy trucks. In terms of green mining, efforts should be made to protect and conserve the environment before, during and after excavation, exploring an independent, innovative path toward green mining.

Currently, China Energy should attach great importance to COVID-19 prevention and control and take measures to guarantee safe production and coal supply at the same time, fulfilling its responsibility as a centrally-administered state-owned enterprise.
