The H8-2 offshore wind power project in Dafeng, Jiangsu Province, funded and constructed by China Three Gorges Renewables (Group) Co., the alternative energy arm of China Three Gorges Corporation (CTG), put its first batch of power units into operation on December 5,a major milestone for China’s furthest offshore wind farm project.
The wind farm is an EPC project undertook by Shanghai Investigation, Design & Research Institute Co., Ltd. (“SIDRI”).
China has reached 300,150,000 kilowatts in installed capacity of wind power this year, the National Energy Administration announced on November 29. It has topped the world for 12 consecutive years with wind power now accounting for approximately 13% of the country’s total installed capacity.
Located in the northern sea of Jiangsu, the H8-2 wind farm is 72 kilometers away from the shore. With 38 4.5-MW wind turbines and 20 6.45-MW wind turbines, it has a total installed capacity of 300 MW.
The project is expected to run at full capacity by the end of December this year. When fully operational, it will generate 900 million kWh of electricity annually, enough to power about 370,000 households of three.
