Baihetan hydropower station, built and owned by China Three Gorges Corporation (CTG), announced that it has fully connected the first penstock of the catchment and power generation system its right bank on November 24 after the last section of the penstock of #15 diversion tunnel was hoisted, providing a solid foundation for the first batch of units to generate power in 2021.
The penstock is a key tube that connects water inlet with hydraulic turbine designed to channel water into the hydraulic turbine. The penstock of #15 diversion tunnel expected to enter concrete construction stage in December, with the remaining seven penstocks to be fully connected in January next year.
