China Three Gorges Corporation (CTG) actively engages in eco-environment protection around the world while developing the clean energy, contributing to local coordinated development.
China Three Gorges Corporation (CTG) held the 64th release of Chinese sturgeon into the Yangtze River on April 10 to mark the 300-day countdown to the Beijing Winter Olympics.
Chinese sturgeon, known as the "living fossil" or "aquatic giant panda" was listed among the first-class protected animals in China. A total of 5.04 million Chinese sturgeon have been released, replenishing the population of species for sustainable reproduction and thriving growth.
Separately, to celebrate the World Water Day of 2021, CTG Brasil released a total of 800,000 fish fry in the Parana river basin in Brazil on March 22.
Starting from 2017, CTG Brasil has been releasing 3.6 million fish fry annually in the Parana and Paranapanema rivers in Brazil.
As of 2021, China International Water & Electric Corp. (CWE) has released a total of 360,000 fish fry over the years near Nam Lik 1-2 Hydropower Project and Nam Ngiep Hydropower Project in Laos, as part of its efforts to protect water with fish.
CTG last year launched the "My communal fish farm" project in the village of Higrompampa near the Chaglla hydroelectric power plant in Peru, to lift the income and productivity of local villagers through fish farming, winning itself an award in Peru's "National Innovative Fisheries and Aquaculture Programs."
