Cargo throughput at CTG’s Xiangjiaba shiplift tops 1.12 m tons in 2020

A total of 1.12 million tons of cargo passed through Xiangjiaba shiplift,· this year as of November 22, reaching its designed annual capacity ahead of schedule.

Xiangjiaba shiplift has operated its lifting chamber more than 5,624 times, and carried over 5,803 ships and more than 2.19 million tons of cargo since it started trial operation on May 26, 2018,

The shiplift management authority conducted a trial navigation test with real ships while the dam discharges the flood in a bid to increase its cargo throughput, efficiency and performance. Based on research of the test results, it proposed a new navigation standard that takes account of and controls both the flow rate passing the generators and that of flood discharge. The team also conducted a ship drought research, the results of which enabled the authority to allow the shiplift to accommodate ships with 2.2-meter draught, up from the previous 2 meters.
