On the afternoon of August 11, a 12-person Lao delegation visited the Nam Lik Hydropower Station, led by Khammany Inthirath, Minister of Energy and Mines of Laos, Somesanith Souvunhnalath, Deputy Director of the Prime Minister’s Office, and Boun Oum Syvanpheng, General Manager of Electricite Du Laos.
At the dam, Minister Inthirath inquired into details of the reservoir’s water level, flood control capacity, water influx, and dam safety monitoring program. The CTG Dam Safety Team in Laos responded with the results of safety monitoring. They concluded that thanks to the quality construction, the dam was sound and safe, with settlement under control, deformation and penetration far below minimum allowed values, slopes of reservoir banks and other structures stable, and inspections and preparations intensified for flood prevention and control.
