CTG's cascade power plants on Yangtze River exceed the power generation target for Q1

China Yangtze Power Co., Ltd., the listed arm of China Three Gorges Corporation (CTG), announced that the cascade power plants along the main stream of Yangtze River it operates generated a total of 31.537 TWh electricity in the first quarter ending on March 31, exceeding quarterly target.

The upbeat start in the first quarter came as the company secured the efficient and stable operation of all the cascade power plants.

The clean power generated in the first quarter is equivalent to a reduction of 9.7 million tons of standard coal or 26.52 million tons of carbon dioxide.

During the cold spell earlier this year, CTG's cascade power plants operated up to 70 units to meet the peak industrial and civil demand for electricity.

During the "Two Sessions", namely annual sessions of the National People's Congress and Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, CTG generated an average of 0.288 TWh electricity daily, with a reserved capacity of over 22 million kilowatts, completing the mission of safeguarding the power supply.

CTG is committed to green development and has launched the layered eco-scheduling to withdraw water from Wudongde and Xiluodu reservoirs to create suitable conditions for fish breeding, especially the spawning and reproduction of fish species that produce viscid and demersal eggs. Meanwhile, to meet the demand for spring irrigation and navigation in the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River, the Three Gorges Reservoir continues to replenish water to the downstream, releasing nearly 10 billion cubic meters out of its flood control capacity, increasing the depth of the waterway downstream and improving shipping conditions.
