Upper Madi Hydropower Station in Nepal, funded by China Three Gorges Corporation (CTG), announced that it has generated a total of 120 million kWh of electricity as of October 18, hitting annual target 74 days ahead of schedule.
Since its first power unit went into operation, the station has generated a total of 490 million kWh of electricity and operated safely for 1,400 days.
The dam, the first hydropower project funded by CTG subsidiary China International Water and Electric Corporation in Nepal, has installed capacity of 25 MW, accounting for 2.86% of the total installed capacity of Nepal's power system.
Since commencing operation, Upper Madi has been operating safely and stably. The project delivers power to Pokhara, the second-largest city in the country, addressing the chronic power shortage challenges caused by rotating power outages.
