Gezhouba hydropower plant, owned by China Three Gorges Corporation (CTG), generated 19.08 TWh of electricity in 2019, setting a new record of annual power generation.
The plant generated 1.36 billion KWh of electricity more than that in 2018 while also achieving improved water conservation, up 7.67 percent compared with the previous year. All key indicators of its operating units continue to lead the industry.
China Yangtze Power Co., Ltd, the listed arm of CTG and operator of Gezhouba, focused on safety and has implemented various measures such as flood prevention and control at Gezhouba in 2019. The plant has overcome many challenges such as heavy repair work, demanding technical improvements, tight schedules, as well as coordination of new and old equipment.
Despite these challenges, the plant has operated safely for over 6,000 days, maintaining zero casualties, zero equipment accidents and zero accountable water disposals. With the high-quality completion of major technical improvements, the lean operation is delivering optimal results, evidenced in the electricity generated.
