World’s largest electric cruise ship embarks on maiden voyage

The "Yangtze River-Three Gorges Dam 1", the world’s largest electric cruise ship developed and built by China Three Gorges Corporation (CTG) and Hubei Three Gorges Tourism Group, made its maiden trip at the Xingang Dock of Zigui, Yichang City, Hubei Province on the morning of March 29.
The ship, which is 100 meters long, 16.3 meters wide and 4 meters deep, can accommodate 1,300 passengers. The ship is powered purely by electricity provided by battery capacity of 7,500 kilowatt-hours, the equivalent of the total battery capacity of more than 100 electric cars. The cruise ship boasts the largest carrying capacity among its peers, the most intelligent technologies, the most complete safety control and the most abundant propulsion load in the world.
It adopts the world's first "high voltage plus low voltage" charging solution as well as technologies newly developed for electric ships, such as ship-based DC power distribution system, a rotatable rudder propeller system, and large ship-based DC inverter central air-conditioning system.
Once put into operation, the cruise ship will be used for tourist routes such as the Gezhouba Dam, the Three Gorges Dam, valleys of the Three Gorges, the Yichang Yangtze River Night Cruise and the Three Gorges Shiplift, offering leisure, entertainment, tourism and sightseeing services for passengers.
