CTG Reached Half Its Impoundment Goal of Cascade Reservoirs

The water level of the Xiluodu, Xiangjiaba and Three Gorges Reservoirs reached 598.1 meters, 379.05 meters and 164.81 meters respectively on September 27, fulfilling half- impoundment goal of the cascade reservoirs.

The potential water retention capacity of the three reservoirs were 252 million cubic meters, 91 million cubic meters and 9.435 billion cubic meters respectively as of 8:00 a.m. September 27. The Xiluodu and Xiangjiaba Reservoirs are scheduled to reach its normal impoundment level by the end of September, and the Three Gorges Reservoir in mid-to-late October. As required by the Yangtze River Flood Control and Drought Relief Headquarters, the water level of the Three Gorges Reservoir will be controlled under 166 meters by 8:00 a.m. on October 1, and 170 meters by 8:00 a.m. on October 11, and the discharge volumes of the Xiluodu and Xiangjiaba Reservoirs will be adjusted based on navigation and power generation.
