Meerwind, an offshore wind farm generated 160 million kilowatt-hour of electricity in February 2022, setting monthly power production record since its operation, the company said.
The 288-MW Meerwind offshore wind farm, located in the German Bight in the North Sea, powers around 360,000 households with 1.2 billion kilowatt-hour of clean energy annually, cutting approximately 1 million tons of carbon emissions per year.
After having completed the maintenance and upgrade on 240 blades of all wind turbines, Meerwind is expected to boost the annual electricity generation by 1.5% as the improved load will translate into better utilization of the wind power. The unit rated power of the turbine has increased 5% from 3.6MW to 3.78MW when it runs above the rated wind speed, mitigating the impact of unit malfunction or downtime on full-load operation against a strong wind or monsoon.
