Improving operation performance and driving quality development are some of the priorities for China Three Gorges Corporation (CTG) in 2020, according to a working conference held by the group from January 17 to 18.
CTG should maintain steady progress and boost its clean energy business and step up environment protection effort this year, according to the working conference, which was held in the Three Gorges Reservoir Area in Yichang, Hubei Province to review the group’s work in 2019 and outline missions and tasks to be accomplished in 2020.
Amid the elevated risks and challenges in 2019, CTG focused on its new strategic development positioning and continued to deepen reform, follow green development and innovation and working with strategic partners to advance the protection of the Yangtze River. CTG managed to accomplish the major performance targets last year as installed capacity increased and operating indicators further improved, delivering solid balance sheet and substantial achievements in technology innovation.
The year 2020 is the end year of the 13th Five-Year Plan (2016-2020) for China to realize “a moderately prosperous society”. For CTG, it is a year during which the first batch of units at the Wudongde Hydropower Station will come online and the construction of the Baihetan Hydropower Station will enter the most crucial stage. It is also a year that the Yangtze River protection initiative delivers its results. Thus, it is of great significance for the group to orchestrate its plan for 2020.
As outlined in the meeting, CTG will take proactive approach to accomplish reform and development initiative in 2020. CTG will be determined to combat risks, help alleviate poverty and control pollutions in 2020. The group will also spare no efforts in its Yangtze River protection cause and consolidate foundation for high-quality growth to elevate the group’s reform and development to the next level.
